Data Recovery Services : Recover, Restore, Manage, or Wipe Delete
We can recover your pictures from your camera's smart card or data files from your favorite thumb drive also. Here are some things to consider when making a decision about your recovery options.
Some recovery operations can take days or even weeks to run. I wish there was a magic wand solution but there just isn't. Let me apply just a little math to make it clearer. If you have an 80Gigabyte drive, that's a small drive by today's standards, it might have 156,301,488 used sectors on it. Now suppose there are only 188,000 bad sectors on the drive. That is only 0.12% of the drive. A very small portion you might say because it is. Most software tools for data recovery I've seen averages about 5 seconds per sector when it finds a bad sector and that's if you can even set a time limit on how long it will spend examining a bad sector. Some just take 5 seconds and your stuck with it. Some take longer(Ouch!). That would take about 10.88 days to scan that drive with most software tools. Wow, you said it, that's a long time. That's why you you should have someone like Palmtek do it with the right tools. If you can't get the drive to spin up or the system can't recognize it correctly then it's time to consider a lab for your data recovery. We are not a lab. We never open your drive for any reason or change components of the drive. That kind of work needs to be performed by a data recovery lab. But we can sure help you determine if you need to send your drive to a lab. We recommend and have used Kroll Ontrack®. Definitely the best and have been at it for longer than anybody else. I know there are a lot of "Do it yourself" comments on the web but please, don't try it yourself. It never works and only makes the recovery possibilities worse. If your not sure what to do just call us. It can't hurt anything to call and you'll probably be glad you did. ![]() |

If it still spins or the device is still recognized correctly by your server or workstation, chances are we can get the data from it. In fact, we've never seen a drive spinning and the system recognizing it that we couldn't recover files from. There are times however that the files are damaged already but even then, there is still a chance that they can be repaired.
